Job vacancy - Universal Support Help to Claim Adviser

Salary: £23,111 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week (full time)

Duration: Fixed term until 31st March 2020

Citizens Advice South East Staffordshire (CASES) is a charity providing free, confidential, impartial and independent advice and casework services to residents of Lichfield District and Tamworth Borough.

We are a seeking a Help to Claim Adviser to be part of a new exciting service assisting new claimants for Universal Credit across South East Staffordshire (Lichfield & Tamworth), Brownhills and Atherstone.

You will have the ability to interview clients, complete benefits checks where appropriate, make referrals, maintain detailed case records and work in a variety of settings. Experience of working with and supervising volunteers would be an advantage.

The post holder would be working out of our offices in Lichfield and Tamworth and at Job Centres in Lichfield, Tamworth and Brownhills.

An understanding and commitment to the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice service is essential.

Service changes in Lichfield city

Lichfield Office will be closed from 7 January, for refurbishment.

We're having some refurbishment works carried out at our Lichfield Office in Levetts Fields, which will include changes to the layout of the ground floor.

From 7 January, Lichfield Office will close until April. During that time, the charity will operate a number of walk-in advice sessions for the public in the centre of Lichfield as follows:

  • Tuesdays (from 15 January), 10.00-1.00 at Guildroom, ground floor at The Guildhall, Bore Street, Lichfield WS13 6LU
  • Thursdays, 10.00-12.00 at Lichfield District Council, Frog Lane, Lichfield WS13 6YY
  • Fridays, 10.00-12.00 at Lichfield Library, St Mary’s Centre, Market Square, Lichfield WS13 6LG

In Burntwood, walk in sessions will continue at Burntwood Office on Sankeys Corner on Mondays and Wednesdays 10.00-2.00.

Adviceline will operate as normal.
